General Awareness is an important section in both
Probationary Officer & Clerical level. The difference is that the deepness
of the questions will be less in clerical. There are no shortcuts to crack this
paper. The only thing which you can do is read the newspaper everyday and
making notes of important happenings. Some of the good sources of GK are
Pratiyogita Darpan , Competitive in Focus, Banking chronicle etc. Out of every
newspapers I would suggest you THE HINDU. You should read the editorial of it
everyday. Questions asked will be 5 to 6 months prior to the month of conduct
of the examination. The areas which should be concentrated are:
-National News
-International News
-Business
-Sports
I think it is better to avoid regional news because there
is only a mere chance of asking from it. If they are asking also it will be
only for a maximum of one or two. It is always profitable to study other areas
as 99% of questions are from others. You should concentrate more on figures
which are changing in the economy.
General Awareness for PO
As per the new notification, they have reduced the number
of questions to 40 from 50. Unlike Clerical level, you should study each and
every hot topics so thoroughly.
Areas which you should be covering while preparing are:
-Awards and Recognition
-International visits of different heads to and from
India, their signed treaties, and other important decisions they made
-Celebrated national and international days
-Ups and downs in the economy
-Acronyms, expansions and economic terms
-New organisations, formation dates and its heads
-Change of heads of organisations, nations etc..
-Reshuffle of ministers
-Winning of national and international sports
The list will go on. But if you are concentrating the
above topics deeper, you can easily do GA paper well. If you are referring this
site everyday and study you can do it well. I am updating hot news of everyday
in the form of quiz referring The Hindu and other newspapers.
General Awareness for Clerk Level
If you are preparing for clerk level you can relax a
little. Its not that strict that you should go deep into the topics. But I
would prefer you to study for PO level, as it will be so easy then for you to
crack clerical level.
After all it is knowledge. If you are fit with it, you
can win any competitive exams. So all the best friends...
